  • A thorough behaviour evaluation is the essential first step before we begin any training or behaviour modification plan.

How it works

📝 1. Complete the Behaviour Questionnaire

Before we meet, please click the link at thebottom to complete a detailed behaviour questionnaire.
👉 This helps me understand your dog’s background and prepare for the session.

⏱️ 2. 1–1.5 Hour Consultation

Our session typically lasts between 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the nature of the issue. We meet at your home or the training center (as agreed). 

🔬 3. Full Behaviour Evaluation

We’ll do a thorough, case-by-case assessment that considers:

  • Genetics – breed traits and predispositions

  • History – life events, trauma, rehoming, etc.

  • Upbringing – socialisation, early training, structure

  • Environment – your home setup, routine, and stressors

  • Activity Needs – mental and physical stimulation

  • Health – any medical factors that might affect behaviour

Your Relationship – how your dog sees and interacts with you and your family

📘 4. Tailored Treatment Plan

After the evaluation, I will explain:

  • The likely root causes of the problem behaviour

  • A step-by-step behaviour plan tailored to your dog

  • Practical daily strategies you can implement right away

📎 5. Supplementary Notes

You will receive written notes or handouts after the consultation to help guide you through the programme and support your consistency.

  • Commitment to the treatment plan

  • Patience with your self and your dog

  • Stay in contact with me regarding the progress

  • Budget for one follow-up session ( will be discussed during the 1st consultation)

Happy Tails Dog Training Center does not use methods that involve fear, force, pain or any other form of punishment. Such methods can have a damaging (often irreversible) impact on the treatment programme. The whole family’s compliance with the treatment programme is crucial to achieve the desired results.

1st Consultation One to 1.5 hours R400.00

Travel Charges (per consult) outside of Oudtshoorn R2.50/km

Subsequent Consultations ± one hour each (if required) R330.00

(online consultations via Zoom attract the same fees)
